For a lot of small charities, a golf day sits on the wish list year after year. Everyone knows they raise good money. Nobody has the time to organise one, and the people who'd play are business owners the charity doesn't really know yet.
It takes less than most charities think.
You don't need to know golfers
Most charities assume they need a list of golfers. What you actually need is a list of businesses. A golf day is a team event, and businesses like entering a team: it's a day out for their staff, a chance to meet people, and a good cause they can put their name to.
Invite your supporters instead of asking them
Your business supporters get asked for money all year. A golf day flips that round. You're inviting them to a great day out, and plenty who'd say no to another request will happily say yes to a team.
It gets you in front of the budget holder
A sponsored walk gets you the team. A golf day tends to get you the person who signs things off: directors, owners and partners who don't often turn up to charity events, but rarely turn down a round of golf.
New money from new people
Every team brings colleagues who've never heard of you. Ten minutes at the prize giving to tell your story, and some of them become supporters for years. That's money your existing supporters were never going to give you, because it's coming from people who didn't know you existed.
Year one is the hard one
The first golf day takes the most effort: finding the teams, building the auction, getting the word out. After that it becomes an annual fixture. Teams come back, sponsors renew, and it gets easier and bigger every year.
What it actually takes from you
If someone else runs the day, your to-do list gets very short:
Agree a date
Tell your business supporters and contacts
Turn up on the day and tell your story
Our no fee charity days
Giving back is in our name, and it's at the core of what we do. As part of that, in 2027 we're running a small number of golf days for small and medium charities in the Midlands at zero cost to the charity. We run everything, and you're never invoiced.
If that sounds like it could work for you, have a look at our No Fee Charity Days page.
